Our Prod and ProdPlus (pressure rate onset device) for mechanical threshold testing allow quantified measurements of tissue pressure in a clinical setting (also known as palpometers or algometers). There are no buttons to press: just touch the probe against the subject and the lights will guide you to increase the pressure at a controlled rate. At threshold, simply withdraw the ProD; the peak reading of force is stored and displayed automatically.
ProD, designed for the clinician, is supplied with three probe tips and an extension piece for palpating soft tissue. For research, we recommend ProD-Plus, with selectable display units (force, or pressure calculated for the tip in use) and an angled head for upward palpation on a sedated, recumbent subject.
